Since 1986, I have worked extensively with adults who have been significantly burdened by trauma. You may have been impacted by traumatic experiences from your past, the chaotic pace of life, or chronic stress from uncontrollable circumstances. If you have experienced these types of situations you may be wrestling with anxiety, depression, or issues with self-esteem.
In addition, excessive stress over time can create other challenges to creating healthy boundaries, achieving your goals, or navigating personal relationships. Experiences of uncontrollable stress can create a collection of symptoms called “learned helplessness.”
This book can help you understand the impact of your past on problems with stress management, depression, negative thinking, self-criticism, and other challenges to daily coping. Chapters include quizzes, practical insights, and strategies so you can reduce stress, build confidence, and strengthen your coping skills. These tips and strategies can help you move forward regardless of how long you have been wrestling with your concerns.
For many years I had wanted to write a Christian book about distortions. From the work I was doing in my counseling practice, I saw the need to help Christians understand why they have trouble feeling close to God even though they may be trying their best to follow Him. Many Christians live with nagging feelings that they aren't doing enough to please God. As a result, they live with chronic guilt.
The three sections of the book examine how to:
1. Recognize Distortions,
2. Release Barriers, and
3. Rebuild a more solid foundation based on relationship rather than duty. I include quizzes and discussion questions to help people recognize their personal distortions.
The roots of these attitudes are often perfectionism, rejection, trauma, dysfunctional families, or legalistic experiences with church. So, there are targeted prayers throughout the book to help people release these distortions. I also explain how to build a solid foundation of faith that is not based on duty but on connection to Jesus Christ through the truth of the Bible and His invitations to approach Him for what we need.
Baggage accumulates through bad experiences (as most people understand). Many people try to release baggage from the stresses of life but still feel stuck. The Bible illuminates how to identify the hooks to lingering baggage that are sometimes hidden. This workbook will help you recognize known and unknown sources of baggage, release them through prayer, and rebuild your life with the principles of Scripture.
Jesus tells us that "My sheep hear My voice" in John chapter 10 (verse 27). This 30 Day Christian devotional book helps people understand that God wants to speak to us in our daily lives.
There are 30 short readings with quotations from the Bible for each day. The reading is followed by a color illustration (that I photographed myself to go with the lesson) and questions for reflection. The readings and questions will help you deepen your connection to God.
These 30 meditations (one for each day of the month) focus on helping you access comfort, courage, and power for daily living. Topics include: belonging, acceptance, freedom from guilt, freedom from rejection, forgiveness, prayer, how to keep a positive mind set of faith, and resting in the peace of God. I chose these topics because they are the needs I have noticed over the years in my counseling practice.
This book is also available on Kindle. The gentle inspiration on these pages makes this book a thoughtful gift for someone new to their faith.
This Christian devotional book has 10 illustrated readings to help you:
Each chapter includes questions for reflection to help you personally apply the reading. This book is suitable to use in your daily devotions, in a group study, or as a gift for a friend who is trying to build their faith.
This Bible study explores the keys taught by Jesus to break through into the supernatural peace, love, and power of God. Chapters focus on the Lord's interactions with Mary and Martha as they grieved the death of Lazarus.
Each lesson in this Christian book examines how to build a more confident level of faith, maintain a more accurate concept of God, progress past heartache, and accelerate spiritual progress. These keys can move you from routine religion into a lifestyle of supernatural blessing.
These topics of loss, grief, and suffering are concerns that are frequently described by the clients in my counseling practice. I wrote this Christian book to help people grow as they learn to understand the Bible better.
